Finally...Women Have Choices for Hunting Apparel

Since the dawn of time,  man has attempted to conceal himself from his prey by blending into his surroundings as much as possible.  As we move forward thousands of years, hunters continued this tradition and clothing makers responded by incorporating  camouflage patterns into hunting apparel.   One segment of the market they seemed to ignore was women's hunting apparel. Now, more than ever, women are camouflaging themselves as they take to the field in rapidly growing numbers.  Thankfully, although very recently; to recognize the growing number of lady hunters  many manufacturers have introduced hunting apparel and products specifically for women.  No longer do ladies have to settle for wearing oversized, ill-fitted hand-me-downs, tolerate fitting their shapes into youth clothing        or carry heavy, bulky gear and accessories.

One of the first companies to introduce a line of ladies-only huntwear was Prois Hunting Apparel.   The company founded by Kirstie Pike strives to provide the lady hunter with high-tech, cutting edge designs that are field-tested and proven performers.  The Prois product line includes well-fitted huntwear and accessories for any climate.

Dead Down Wind is addressing the all-in-one scent product issue, that ladies have complained about by introducing the Huntress brand of ScentPrevent products for women.  The Huntress offering includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hair gel.  Dead Down Wind also sells ScentPrevent lip balm, body lotion and powder.

Badlands Backpacks understands that a woman's center of gravity is not in the same place as a man's.  The "Kali" by Badlands Backpacks is fitted and shaped for women.  Badlands has always set the bar high for others by offering a real  "Lifetime Warranty"; and by  incorporating the most high-tech features in their backpacks.  Now those same  features are available in a backpack for ladies.

Rhino Laboratories now makes the Cut ‘n Run ground blind, this pop-up blind is compact when being carried, deploys easily and weighs only 6 pounds.

Magnus, well known for great broadheads; will soon be well known for the RackPack.  The RackPack is a lightweight, well-fitting pack frame.  It is incredibly comfortable with gear strapped on it and it neatly unfolds into a great field seat.

Next on the list of innovations is the Rage 40ke, mechanical broadhead.  This broadhead weighs 100 grains, has a 1 ½” cutting diameter and is designed for archers who shoot lower draw weight, shorter draw length bows.

Pinnacle Outdoors has answered the call for redesigned products, literally.  Pinnacle Outdoors has introduced slate turkey calls that are 2 ½” in diameter, perfect for smaller hands, are very easy to use and sound great thanks to the “purple heart” strikers.

Not to be left out of this ever growing market, Manzella Productions has added "women's-sized"  hunt gloves.  These gloves are designed to fit women and are not just down-sized men's gloves.  From the Ranger to the Tracker model, these gloves have the features of a great hunting glove and fit women "like a glove" should!

Rocky Brands and Scent Blocker both offer limited, but high quality hunting apparel products.  Rocky has boots, a ladies shirt and  pants.  Scent Blocker has the "Lady Dream Season" pants,  jacket and boots in women's sizes with some very technical features and the rumor is they will introduce an expanded product line for women in the future.

After reading about all these great products, it would be hard to believe that there is yet another product out there to top them all!  But there is, give credit to Liz Stewart of Noblesville; whose company Flo-Go International makes the Squattie Pottie.  A very unique product for women "so you will never have to hold it again...ever"  The Squattie Pottie will allow you to answer the call of nature very discreetly, whether you are in the woods, on the boat or anywhere that the cleanliness of a facility may be questionable.

The industry is finally realizing the impact that women have in the outdoor market and are doing their best to balance ingenuity and technology with economic and manufacturing constraints.  Only time will tell what other companies may step up to produce quality products for the women who hunt, fish and just enjoy the outdoors.
